The Wellington Bomber aka 'The Wimpey' - ATAG_Vampire - 10-15-2019 The Vickers Wellington is coming! https://youtu.be/pfkZVhOBVYQ Fancy joining Bomber Command or Coastal for a bit of Torpedo work? 07 RE: The Wellington Bomber aka 'The Wimpey' - SomeNewGuy - 10-17-2019 Any idea what the bomb load is going to be on that? RE: The Wellington Bomber aka 'The Wimpey' - ATAG_Vampire - 10-18-2019 Hello SNG The Wellington could carry 4,500 lbs (2000 kg) of internal bomb load. So 8 x 500 lb, 16 x 250 lb bombs. This is of course a substantial increase over the Blenheim. Plus of course the ability to drop torpedoes against shipping. As a matter of interest they used the Wellington to drop the 4000 lb 'Cookie' bomb during testing. I don't know if that will be part of the available bomb loadout in TFS 5.0. 07 RE: The Wellington Bomber aka 'The Wimpey' - SomeNewGuy - 10-19-2019 Gettin me all excited for bombing again. Was this cookie bomb supposed to fill a role or something? Or just be a bigger package of "get fucked"? RE: The Wellington Bomber aka 'The Wimpey' - ATAG_Vampire - 10-19-2019 A bit of both really. It was a HC (High Capacity) bomb which meant more explosive was packed into a much thinner casing. It was called a 'Blockbuster'. A 'cookie' plus loads of incendiaries was the standard bomb load for Bomber Command. 07 |
