On Leave - SomeNewGuy - 12-20-2019 I'll be online a LOT less of the next month or so due to getting the house ready for rent, looking for and interviewing tenants, and prepping for the move to Monterey next month. Once we are moved however, I can finally get around to all the things I keep saying I'll do but never get around to. As once we get settled all my real world commitments should be handled until the August time frame. I don't foresee anything coming up between Feb. and then. As a shameless advertisement, if anyone is looking for a 2300 sq/ft, 2 story, 3 bed 2.5 bath house with a 8200 sq/ft backyard in the Temecula, CA area PM me. Patio w/awning and fire pit in the back. New Stove/Oven, Microwave and washer/dryer. All top of the line and only 6 months old. I'll see you in the skies soon gentlemen. Best of luck! RE: On Leave - Penguin - 12-20-2019 il pop over and give u a hand lol RE: On Leave - Kendy for the State - 12-20-2019 Fond memories of a great nine months spent at the Presidio of Monterey at the Defence Language Institute back in the 80's. Beautiful weather, lots of interesting places to go and see, camping in the Los padres National Forest, etc. I was there for the opening of the Monterey Aquarium, what a cool place! And I really miss the fresh bread from the Monterey Baking Company. Good luck in your new home. Regards, Kendy RE: On Leave - SomeNewGuy - 12-20-2019 Were are going back to DLI actually, wife is a Ukranian immigrant and Russian ling. Her second time there an studying to end up doing higher level translation for ambassadors an such. What was your language? If that baking company is still around I'll have to give it a shot. I had previously taken Hindi Urdu at the Command Language School at Ft Bragg, and then Spanish there, before getting orders to Monterey. RE: On Leave - SomeNewGuy - 12-23-2019 So you were a ling by trade? Also, Panama in the 80's? How was that? DLI in Monterey or San Francisco was a regular stop for SF guys. Was stationed at Ft Davis on the Atlantic side. Carter has just given away the canal, so it was going to shit fast. All the aid money and the profits from the canal was going into Panamanian politicos and military's pockets, so nothing went to maintenance. Everything was falling apart fast. I ETS'd out of Panama just before we went after Noriega. |
