A couple of TWC Campaign Server Questions

#1
1.  Is the weather always the same?  Seems like it is..can that be changed?  More clouds?

2.  Tab 4 -1, Tab 7-1 - are they both accurate?  Only one is accurate?

3.  Seems there are a lot of small AI fighter patrols wandering around - doesn't seem to be realistic.  Instead of small fighter patrols how about larger bomber and escorts formations?

That's it.  Loving the server - keep up the good work!

1. It does change
2. 4-1 is your friend
3. There are large bombing missions and large groups of fighters that roam. But this isn't much fun to fly against if you are the only one on or there are not many people online at the time.
So we have smaller flights to augment this. Also, there were plenty of smaller groups to scout/patrol ect.

Thanks for the reply however since this exchange I have flown several missions and the weather is ALWAYS the same..the occasional cotton ball cloud and thats it.  Are you sure the weather
changes?

Tab-7-1 is the built-in CloD radar and it is bugged (on purpose, but also just because it is bugged in general) for our servers; please don't use it.

Tab-4-1, Tab-4-2, Tab-4-3 and the online Contact Plotting Table ( http://brenthugh.com/twc/radar - check the red/blue Campaign Server forum here for the radar password) are your friends and the operational radar for the TWC servers.

Regarding weather . . . you asked for it so now there is variable weather in the Campaign server.

There are a lot of problems with weather in CloD so you will have to give feedback about whether the new weather is problematic or too interfere-y.

Some of the problems:

- AI just ignores the weather & clouds. So putting clouds & weather somewhat interferes with human pilot operations but not AI, tilting the advantage to Ai

- Clouds & weather can affect framerate

- Since the server is very bomber-based, clouds can really interfere with that a lot. In real life you might just cancel operations altogether if the weather is too heavy.

So what I've tried to do is put in weather that will make things interesting here or there but not really interfere with operations at our targets. You can imagine that we are just skipping those days where bomber command suspended operations due to bad weather.

In the server, there is not much for bombers to do on those days except sit on their hands, which is no fun from a "want to fly the server today" perspective. So, we're just skipping those "bad weather over the target" days.

However, you might see some bad weather of various sorts **on the way to** the target.

If the weather is too troublesome or interferes with operations significantly, let me know and we can dial it back.

Thanks for the reply Flug.

I still haven't seen any change in weather. Maybe bad luck on my part but so far every sortie I've flown is the EXACT same weather wise.
Is it possible to fly underneath BLUE radar? If so, how low? I fly at 100 ft (per by Blenhiem altimeter) but seem to get intercepted EVERY time.
Is there a way to set it up so we know when a bomber raid is going to be formed so we can provide escort? "Bomber raid forming 20 minutes over Wilmington at angels 20" or something like that? Love escorting but very difficult catching them.

If you see anyone in the bomber discord channels drop in ....you are more than welcome to escort us or fly a Blennie with ai cover for a big raid....helps take out the hard targets in one go

Birdtail,

Thanks for reporting. See the thread here:

https://forums.twcpilots.com/showthread.php?tid=197

I have been working on fixes to the Death Bug but the first try or two had a bug so that nothing happened at all. That is, when a flight ended it just exited (bug) without recording either sortie finish, flight finish, any possible death, etc etc etc etc. So of course the Death Bug didn't happen but nothing else happened either. It took me a while to catch on that was happening.

Now (within the last 24 hours) a new fix has been should/might/could fix the Death Bug and should give me more info to fix it. So maybe fixed, maybe improved, anyway it should record normal end-of-flight info.

Please keep typing in ZZZ if you get the Death Bug/Career loss.

> Also Wed Mar 18th finished off Dunkirk radar 2 to 104% but it is still showing as not complete

That was a bug that should be fixed now. Thanks for reporting!

BTW in general the radars for both sides should more dialed in now. More difficult but not impossibly difficult. For a while they were very easy, the impossibly difficult, now they should be more in the middle.

Thanks Flug.....have you had a chance to look at escort/bomber cover only allowing 2 planes at a time to be called in. The group cover does not work for me.

I think I posted about that somewhere.   There is some kind of a CloD issue when you call 3 or more cover aircraft at a time.  So the limit is just set at 2.

So basically you can call 1 or 2 at at time.  But not 3, 4, 5, 6 etc.

Honestly I can't even remember what the problem was now, but I tried to fix it, realized there is just no way to fix it, so as a workaround just set the max to call in at once to two.

In my testing I've found 1 or 2 at a time to be best anyway.  3-4-5-6 groupus look cool if they work but they are just unreliable at best.

So you can still have 6 cover bombers or whatever - just make it 3 groups of 2 instead of one group of 6.  They fly better, drop better, stay with you better, etc etc etc as 3 groups of 2 anyway.
