How to use in-game map tools

Hi guys. With the NEW Tobruk map out, and trying to navigate it with very few discernible land marks (apart from the coast line), I decided to try using the in-game map tools to assist with figuring out where I wanted to go. Unfortunately, I had a heck of a time to make sense of the tools let alone employ them. I did a search on the subject and came upon a YouTube video that explains how to use the protractor to determine my path or the path of an incoming raid.
