A bit of Skeleton Crew History!
Posted by: Pilotlight - 06-15-2020, 07:40 AM - Forum: 'The Usual Place' - Replies (5)

Poking around for some memories and looky here.

http://simguildhistoryinminiature.com/about-us.html

A guy who may or may not have been a programmer of Simguild's "Flying Circus" posted a tragically fuzzy home video he took while coaching his son to fly in the FC online arena.

At one point, someone named XX-Grizzly appears briefly in the chat window.  Could be SC-Grizzly!  And at the end, there's a guy who pops up in chat named "Tusk."  Soon to be SC-Tusk?  Maybe!  Who the hell knows!?

Good grief that sim was fugly.  And so much fun.  Good times.

I broke this up into 3 videos for convenience:

I was advised that the Dieppe bunker was at 98% destroyed,
& figured if the General was nearby, it was worth a flight...
TWC Catto was taking off from Wilmington to attack the nearby radar,
so off we went.

Unfortunately, just feet wet radar reported bombers just off my left,
so I left Catto to investigate:

  The General (a close up...)
Posted by: Dave - 06-11-2020, 12:39 AM - Forum: The Wrecking Ball Theatre - Replies (2)

Finally got a chance to render this video from 5/31
in which photographing the General got some unexpected
(but welcome) results.

This would not have been possible without training
in the Beaufighter from TWC_Blacknight.

Flug, can you elucidate what the sequence of events really is?
Best I can figure out is that the 1st recon from 20k will give
a grid square location for the General.

A closer pass, (not sure how close) will give the
exact Knickerbein co-ords of the General for bombing etc...

Now, I cannot remember "if" the Knickerbein Co-Ords were already
up before this run, but I wanted to get within that "100 meters" thingy
to get a yellow banner, & then shoot the crap out of him to see if I could
get a 2nd yellow banner. I know I was within 100meters on the 1st pass
with no joy, but the 2nd, taking the tops off the trees yielded a
treasure trove of data/plans about where they planned to attack that day!
This info was then printed under the tactical planning board telling red
what the specific Blue objectives were to roll the map!
Totally unexpected, & freakin' awesome!

10th June Campaign Server has pooped the bed

The Campaign Server is showing in the Server List - but doesn't have a map listed - I think it's pooped the bed.

Information Cliffs of Dover - Track file viewing
Posted by: Mackers - 06-10-2020, 02:14 AM - Forum: Tech Support - Replies (1)

Here is a rough and ready guide on how to View a track file in CloD.

1] Main Menu - 'Extras'

2] Extras Menu - Tracks

3] Track Select Menu - Select

4] Track Select Menu - Choose your Track File then Open

5] Track Player Menu - ensure these options are selected then Play
* Edit Time - allows you to fast forward and to slow down (there is no rewind)
** Edit Views - allows you to change the view
*** Hide Icons - Hides any Icons
**** Hide Interface - Hides any and all interfaces (generally, I only select this on clips for videos) ((here be dragons))

6] Viewing the track file - looks like the game is broken - press F1 to sit in the pilot seat of the player who recorded the track file

7] The 'View' Category of your controls will give you options not normally usable in servers like our 'Campaign Server'.

8] The 'In-game Time' category gives you options for manipulating the time in your track file.

This is the 'basic' track file viewing.  There are a few other things that can be done.  You can record another track file, from your track file - as an example.  Sounds crazy, but this means when making a video - you can prepare shorter clips to record from.  Really helpful as there is no rewind feature.

I hope this helps.

Information Cliffs of Dover - Track file processing via ATAG
Posted by: Mackers - 06-10-2020, 01:08 AM - Forum: Tech Support - Replies (1)

This is a rough and ready guide on how to get your CloD 'track file' processed, using the ATAG Track Editor.

Register a Forum Account with ATAG:

https://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/

Then

When it has finished processing (a couple of minutes later) download it and rename it (so the name makes sense to you)

*Right-Click the file to bring up the sub-menu to 'rename' it
**Once you have typed the new name - hit enter

Move the 'Processed Track File' into the 'Records' folder, so you can view it in game with all the external view goodness

*Right-click the file to select 'Copy'
**Right-click an empty area of the destination folder to select 'Paste'

The Processed Track File is now viewable in game.

I hope this helps.

Started my channel back up full time and will be putting out flight as well as walk-through of RAF aircraft.  I also put in a donation button (https://www.twitch.tv/twc_blacknight/about) for anyone that over time has learned anything from me about this game then by all means.  Anyway, I am determined to finish this project even though I have to move AGAIN!!!! however, this place is right down the road lol.  Hope to see more on and enjoying Cliffs and the future with Tobruk.
