F.Name Jon
DOB July 1953
Current Timezone -GMT
Games Played
-IL2 Bos, Verdun-Tannenberg.
Aircraft Preference
-Any, I like 109,s But I don't try to climb the 'kill' ladder, I'm too old, I guess I'm about average to crap. I don't mind being a bomber pilot or a gunner or any other really.
Personal Detail
-I like Model making, Interested in aviation.
I will take part and try to complete any task assigned. I just like the fun of being part of a team. I'm a carer for my son so I can't always get online to fly. I fly with VR in Bos. I would find it difficult to go through all the startup stuff like radiators and suchlike because I'm not that quick remembering keys ect. I usually start on the ground and simply start engine and go. I hope that's ok.
I like to fly with realistic physics, stalling and the other stuff like that.
Ex-Royal Navy Far east fleet on aircraft carrier. (Long time ago. We don't have a Far east fleet now). Two Destroyers in the Med and UK. Did some light aircraft delivery flying mail and goods (might have been breaking the law but just a tad) in Australia in the late 80's.

Thank you for your consideration.

Hey guys! Something super frustrating has come up. I've been playing Great Battles for months now, without issue. This morning I go to boot it up via Steam, and it crashes on launch. Every Time. I checked the integrity of files, and I get "1 file failed to validate and will be reacquired".
I've tried
Turning off Windows Defender Firewall
Local Disck Check
Re-installing the game.....
and...same issue!
I've verified the integrity of game files after reinstalling, and same issue.
Any ideas??
Thanks Guys!
**EDIT**
Checked Compatibility Issues through Windows, boots up fine. Saved Settings. Now when I boot it up through Steam, Still Crashes. On Login screen directly in IL2........interesting.....very interestingg....
**EDIT**
Game launches when I navigate to steamapps/common/il2.exe, but no content in game i.e. missions, campaigns, expansions etc.
**EDIT**
Game fixed. Had to uninstall steam, delete all files, reinstall.

Ethan Willis
DOB - 14.3.1996
Current Timezone - US East (GMT-4.00)
Games Played - Post Scriptum, IL GB, War of Rights, Various RTS games (including CoH)
Aircraft Preference - None, if it has wings and an engine, I'm in the cockpit. (Though usually fighters because I feel less like a sitting duck) If it's a bomber of some sort, I would rather fly with people in a formation as to A) be less defenseless and B) carpet bomb the enemy.
Personal Detail (Hobbies, Career, ect.) - I live in Ohio and I work as an arborist. Which is kind of like a tree farmer/doctor. Work has seasons to it, so in the summer I'm clocking overtime everyday and in the Winter my duties might mean I wont have to work for 2 or three days during the work week excluding weekends. Sometimes consecutively, sometimes spread. It's all very inconsistent. Working a physical job means that I'm tired when I come home, so sitting in a virtual cockpit seemed only natural.
How did you hear about us? - I've been flying in IL2 GB for a while by myself and it was all becoming very lonesome, so I did a quick google search for il2 vitural squadrons and you guys appeared near the top. I took a look at your website and like what I saw, especially that you guys also like to play Post Scriptum, which I absolutely adore.

TWC Tobruk TEST SERVER Questions |

I was on this server tonight, and before launching, I spent some time reading the MISSION BRIEFING. It outlined the plan for the server, which was in part, to attack and occupy a specific airfield deemed PRIMARY. The briefing did not identify the base, so I was not sure which airbase to spawn at. Once in my aircraft I began exploring the TAB 4 commands. None of these commands informed me of my PRIMARY AIRBASE TARGET, nor did it inform me of any SECONDARY TARGETS. When I used the TAB-4-6 command, I received several messages informing me that:
"REMAINING RED PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:
Red has 42 attack vehicles occupying the target airport (500 m); Blue has 45 attack vehicles/artillery in the area surrounding (3500m.
Red has 42 attack vehicles occupying the target airport (500 m); Blue has 45 attack vehicles/artillery in the area surrounding (3500m.
Red has 42 attack vehicles occupying the target airport (500 m); Blue has 45 attack vehicles/artillery in the area surrounding (3500m."
I decided to take off and head to a base I thought might be one of the "target airports." After locating the base, I discovered I was wrong but decided to bomb it anyways (there were some blue target there). After bombing the base and depleting my ammo, I returned to base to re-arm. While I was there waiting for the R&R to complete, a server message appeared across my screen informing me that "Scegga No. 3" was under attack, so I decided to investigate. This was after being in the server for almost an hour. Once I arrived at Scegga No. 3, I discovered the blue ground team was attacking it and I was able to launch an assault to help repel these forces.
I think it would be helpful to inform the pilot, what bases their team is attacking, and which bases their team is defending. It would help to decide which air base to spawn at. Also, once in the game, when using the TAB-4-6 command, it would be helpful if the return message could include the name of the "target airport" so the pilot could decide which mission to fly. Maybe this information is there somewhere, but I could not locate it, nor did any of the other pilots I encounter, seem to know where to find this info.
Please advise!
P.S. I wanted to start a new topic under the "Cliffs of Dover TOBRUK" forum titled "TWC Tobruk TEST SERVER Questions" but I could not find the means to do so, which is why it is listed under "New Stuff" chain of messages.

How to use in-game map tools |

Hi guys. With the NEW Tobruk map out, and trying to navigate it with very few discernible land marks (apart from the coast line), I decided to try using the in-game map tools to assist with figuring out where I wanted to go. Unfortunately, I had a heck of a time to make sense of the tools let alone employ them. I did a search on the subject and came upon a YouTube video that explains how to use the protractor to determine my path or the path of an incoming raid. I found it informative so I thought I would share it with you. Below is the link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNWEax5II0k
If anyone has similar information on how to use the other tools, I would greatly appreciate it if you shared it here.

DOB: 10.16.1989
Current Timezone: GMT+8
Games Played: il2-1946 warthunder
Aircraft Preference: I don't know. I haven't played flightsim game for long so that I still do not have a favourite aircraft yet.
Personal Detail (Hobbies, Career, ect.): Scale modeling, PC games, electronic work, etc.
How did you hear about us: I read the recruitment thread from bbs of IL2 strumovik.
BTW: I'm a chinese with my poor English speaking skill. And my experience in this game is not too much. I doubt if I could cooperate well in voice communication. I really want to try to play in an international team. But I don't want to ruin anyone's fun. So would it be a matter? Should I have a try?
